Wild Food Experiences

Join renown chef, author and mycologist Bill Jones as he leads you on a unique wild food experience. Forage food display, show and tell, guided forage and a delicious meal to top it all off. The “forage” is a guided tour of the world of wild foods. Please note we tend to mainly observe and educate people on the fungi and plants we find, not harvest them as a group. I will have lots of wild products on hand to feed you.

Join us in 2022 for wild food forages and in the spring (edible plants and morel mushrooms) and fall (wild mushrooms).

Foraging Gift Certificates are available. The cost per person is $150 plus GST for a workshop and $250 for the foraging weekend (package of a forage day and mushroom cooking class). Forage Weekend events are also available as individual bookings. All events must be booked in advance and space is available on a first come first served basis. There is no expiration limit to the certificates. Always a popular gift!

Forage class starts at 11 am – 4 pm, Saturday

Cooking Class starts at 12 noon – 4 pm Sunday

Come dressed for the weather with a good pair of walking shoes. Rain gear may be necessary. We supply everything else you need.

The course is a fun day explor­ing the wild foods of the Cowichan Val­ley. We start with an infor­ma­tive talk in our farm class­room, for lunch we supply wild food dishes and then head out on to the Trans-Canada Trail which runs by the farm. After a nice walk through beau­ti­ful and pro­duc­tive farm­lands and for­est we will identify wild plants and mushrooms (edible and poisonous species) and habitat along the way. We return to the farm for foraged tea and a unique dessert based on local foods.

Foraging Workshop Cost:

$150/person (plus GST)

Individual Events:

Foraging Weekends (Forage Saturday, Cooking Class Sunday) $250/person (plus tax)

Foraging: $150/person (plus tax)

Mushroom Cooking: $125 /person (plus tax)

Private Foraging Class (afternoon):

  • Minimum charge $500 (1-2 students)
  • $175/person (3-4 students)
  • $150/person (5-6 students)
  • 15% gratuity added to all private events
